At Summa, we aim to restore damaged heart tissue by inducing the regeneration of healthy cells and tissues using RNA therapeutics. We are harnessing the potential of gene therapy to create novel treatments for ischemic heart disease, drawing upon academic knowledge, state-of-the-art disease models, and cultivating a culture of team excellence.

Our company's purpose is: “The Neglected Heart Regenerated”.  We focus on the heart, an organ that hasn't seen new treatments reach patients for many years. Additionally, when we talk about the "neglected heart," we mean the growing problems of obesity and type 2 diabetes, which significantly increase the risk of ischemic heart disease.

Reduce the impact of ischemic heart disease

Ischemic heart disease is one of the top causes of death worldwide. This medical condition occurs when the blood supply to the heart is reduced or obstructed, usually due to the narrowing or blockage of coronary arteries. When blood flow to the heart is deprived, it can lead to several cardiac problems, including angina pectoris (chest pain), heart attack (myocardial infarction) and heart failure.
