The impact of ischemic heart disease

Ischemic heart disease (IHD) results from narrowed coronary arteries that reduce the blood flow and oxygen to the heart. Severe cases, such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), can trigger a cascade of damaging events, including scar tissue formation, ventricular remodeling, heart failure, and eventual death.

For years, treatments have focused on managing symptoms and slowing disease progression rather than addressing the root cause of heart damage. Yet, IHD remains one of the world’s leading health challenges, affecting millions and significantly impacting quality of life.

At Summa, we believe more can be done.  We are working on innovative therapeutics that alleviate symptoms such as fatigue and chest pain, restore cardiac function, and enhance patient recovery and long-term survival.

We are pushing the boundaries of cardiac research to develop innovative therapies that restore the damaged tissue and go beyond symptom management. We believe in innovative treatments that have the potential to change lives and transform the future of heart diseases.
